[by Jake Milano] It was in the fall of 2016, when Mike Sanford and I approached Terry Ingano, who was, at the time, Superintendent of Schools for Clinton, Mass., about setting up a group mentoring program for middle school boys in Clinton. Terry embraced the idea and opened the door for us to put the wheels in motion. When he retired a year later, he agreed to join our Board of Directors.
Almost every week during those first few years, I’d meet with Terry at his office, a local coffee shop, as the boys’ program grew at the Clinton Middle School (CMS). In 2021, due in part to Terry’s vast connections, we were able to add the mentoring program for girls at CMS.
Terry was a mentor to me, freely sharing his knowledge, experience, and wisdom. He also connected me with people in Clinton who would go on to become part of our family, supporting the boys and girls in our programs in various ways.
Terry exemplifies what it means to be in service to our community. He volunteers at the Historical Society, regularly serves dinner at WHEAT, and is a member of the Rotary Club.
In March of 2023, Terry organized the revival of the ‘Clinton Community Basketball Night’… after a three-year hiatus… as a fundraiser to support the REAL Mentors Program at CMS.
Thank you, Terry, for all you do. Congratulations!
